/ What is it?
Real-Time Text (RTT) is a revolutionary technology that transforming phone calls into two-way text conversations. It instantly displays what you type on your phone screen for the other person to read, and vice versa, creating a seamless and accessible communication experience.

Beyond Disability: While RTT empowers people with hearing loss to confidently connect with anyone, its benefits extend to everyone. No more struggling to hear in noisy environments, repeating yourself to be understood, or missing information while taking notes. RTT empowers you to multitask, communicate discreetly in public, and enjoy crystal-clear conversations in any situation.

Imagine:
• A deaf person easily ordering food at a restaurant.
• Colleagues discussing confidential matters in a crowded office.

The FCC's landmark ruling mandating RTT support across all carriers and devices unlocks this potential for everyone. By modernizing communication infrastructure and fostering inclusivity, RTT paves the way for a future where clear and accessible communication is a reality for all.

/ Why?
RTT: Revolutionizing Emergency Communication for All
In emergencies, every second counts. Real-Time Text (RTT) ensures accessible communication for all, regardless of hearing ability, in critical moments.

• Faster communication: RTT allows for immediate back-and-forth text exchange, saving valuable time for first responders.
• Eliminates specialized equipment: No need for TTYs, ensuring everyone can reach help directly from their phones.
• Simultaneous communication: Unlike TTYs, RTT enables real-time dialogue, clarifying information and reducing confusion.
• Reliable technology: RTT offers clearer communication over IP networks, minimizing disruptions during critical calls.
• Richer communication: RTT supports diverse languages and symbols, enabling effective communication regardless of language barriers.

Connecting Everyone: The Power of Real-Time Text (RTT)
You might be familiar with RTT, a technology mandated by the FCC under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure equal access to telecommunication. As of 2018, all RCS-enabled phones entering the US market must support RTT, making it a vital feature for millions.
Inspired by Real Stories
Attending the UT event in Seattle on June 21-22, I was profoundly moved by the stories of individuals with hearing loss. These experiences ignited a desire to share the importance of RTT with others, both within our company and externally. Here's why it matters:
1. Equality and Inclusion
RTT empowers people with hearing loss to confidently connect through calls, including emergencies. This simple solution deserves broader awareness. By supporting RTT, we can create a more inclusive digital world and break down barriers to communication.
2. Independence and Dignity
Prior to RTT, relying on video relay services for communication meant dependence on interpreters. RTT enables direct, independent communication, fostering a sense of dignity and control for many. Users can easily initiate and receive RTT calls, transforming the call experience into a seamless text conversation.
3. Technology for All
Technology is at its best when it empowers individuals and strengthens communities. As a leading smartphone provider, Samsung is committed to fostering connections and promoting inclusivity. The initial launch of RTT with T-Mobile on the Note 8 in December 2017 marked a significant step towards this goal.
Moving Forward
Let's continue to champion accessibility and inclusion by promoting awareness and understanding of RTT. Together, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to connect, regardless of their abilities.
